| Inicialmente é feita uma análise do modelo gerencial japonês, mostrando a cadeia de fatores que levam a nível superior de competitividade empresarial. As características da gestão tecnológica são a seguir analisadas, em termos de pontos fortes e deficiências. Dados foram coletados pelo autor por ocasião de viagem ao Japão, a convite do Ministério de Relações Exteriores daquele país. Entre outras, as seguintes empresas foram visitadas: Mitsubishi, Fugitsu, Sony, Matsushita e Hitachi.

| First, this paper examines the chain of factors leading to the high level of managerial competitiveness in Japan, then the strengths and weaknesses of the technological management in Japanese companies. Data were collected by the author during a visit to Japan invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Japanese Government. Mitsubishi, Fugitsu, Sony, Matsushita and Hitachi were some of the visited companies.
